For drawing on objects, I decided to draw upon a quote from Oscar Wilde.
"There is something terribly morbid in the modern sympathy with pain. One should sympathise with the colour, the beauty, the joy of life. The less said about life's sores the better."

Based on this quote I decided to take something associated with pain and put beautiful imagery on it. I also decided to create the weapon out of fabric and other sewing materials, so that while a mace is traditionally associated with violence and pain, it would be relatively useless for its original purpose.
